Gosh, today really was a good day. I finally watched the movie Sepet. It is really a good movie. Thumbs up for Yasmin Ahmad for writing and directing such a fabulous movie. Though it was being cut at 8 parts, but still don’t worry, you will get the story eventually. I truly agree that this is neither a malay movie nor a chinese movie, but it is a Malaysian movie. I mean, it is not about malay nor it is about chinese. It is not about race, but it is about us Malaysians.

Sepet is a movie about the first love of Orked and Jason. It portrays the struggle of teenagers and the purity of first love. It was a love at first sight. If you are a Ipohan, then u will see familiar places in Sepet. It’s a movie without much complication, just simple and plain storyline. Just like showing you a piece of someone’s life or memories and you are the witness to that someone’s life.

19-year old Ah Loong is in charge of a stall selling pirated vcd’s. Contrary to what you might expect someone of his social standing to be, Ah Loong is an incurable romantic with an unlikely hobby - he loves to read and write poetry. Quite content to carry on being the Romeo of the slums, Ah Loong’s life takes a sudden turn one day when a 16-year old Malay schoolgirl arrives at his stall in search of Wong Kar-Wai’s films.

I’ve always enjoyed all the festive Petronas ad created by Yasmin. From the ad that uses the Mambai song - Kau Ilhamku until the recent Ladang Poh Poh. It never fail to touch me. I will watch it over and over again whenever possible. Whenever festive season arrive, the first thing i do is to watch out for da Petronas ad.

After the movie Sepet, i went for the next movie Shall We Dance. it was an interesting story about dancing. Anyway, my car’s aircond is broken and it is so damn hot whenever im driving. have to go now cuz tomorrow im having my guitar lesson at 12noon.
